What brings parents to us
Every child is different, and showing some of these on their own doesn't necessarily mean autism. These are simply common reasons parents come to us for a clearer picture.
- โFinds it hard to make or keep eye contact, or to read others' expressions
- โStrongly prefers routines and can get upset when they change
- โHas intense, narrow interests in specific topics, objects, or activities
- โFinds loud noises, bright lights, or certain textures overwhelming
- โFinds it hard to understand or join in with other children's play
From questions to a clear plan โ in five steps
A standardized, clinician-led process that makes high-quality assessment more accessible โ from home, wherever you are.

Complete the assessment
Meet your psychologist online for the assessment itself โ a mix of a conversation with you, guided tasks with your child, and rating forms for parents and teachers to complete.
Your psychologist reviews the complete picture
Your psychologist interprets the assessment results alongside your child's developmental history and other relevant information.
Understand the results
Meet your psychologist on another video call to understand what it means for your child, with a clear report and practical next steps.
Online does not mean a lesser test
We use established, standardized instruments that are designed to be completed through a clinician-led interview or structured rating forms. They work the same way on a video call as they do in a clinic.
ISAA
Indian Scale for Assessment of Autism
An autism rating scale developed in India. Your psychologist completes it with you, and pairs it with their own observation of your child at play over video and a careful developmental history.
- โA live psychologist, not an app. Every assessment is led by a qualified psychologist in a live video session. Nothing is an unsupervised online quiz, and no score decides anything on its own.
- โThe same instruments, scored the same way. These are interview and rating-scale instruments. They are completed by asking and listening, so the questions and the scoring are the same whether you are in a clinic or at home.
- โHonest about the limits. If something cannot be judged well enough over video, your psychologist will tell you and recommend an in-person step rather than guess.
What online makes easier for your family
Less hassle for your family
No travel, no waiting rooms and no long trip to a clinic. You join from home, at a time you book.
Easier for your child
Many children are more at ease at home than in an unfamiliar clinic, which makes the session calmer for them and for you.
Seen in a familiar place
Your psychologist observes your child in their own space, with their own toys and routine, which can give a more natural picture of how they play and interact.
Available across India
You do not need to live near a specialist centre. With a stable internet connection and a quiet space, you can be assessed from wherever you are.
A live session with you, your child, and your psychologist
Your autism assessment combines a caregiver conversation with time spent watching your child play, guided by you or a therapist while your clinician observes over video.
Typical duration
90 to 120 minutes in total, for all the assessments your child needs
Platform
Google Meet โ no download needed, just a browser
Who's present
You and your child together for the observation portion
Sessions
Usually one session; sometimes more
Some children settle into the observation quickly, others need more warm-up time or a second session โ your clinician will let you know if more time would help get a clearer picture, rather than rushing it.
How to be ready for your session
- โFind a quiet, private space with minimal distractions for the video call
- โUse a laptop or tablet with a stable internet connection and a working camera and microphone
- โHave a few of your child's favorite toys, books, or activities nearby โ the observation is play-based, so familiar things help your child engage naturally
- โOnce the observation is under way, your clinician may ask you to step out of frame if your child settles better that way โ this is entirely your and your clinician's call, made together during the session
- โComplete any developmental history or intake forms beforehand, so live session time can be spent with your child rather than on paperwork
What your report covers
A clear picture of your child's social communication and behaviour
Your assessment brings together your child's developmental history, your concerns as a caregiver, your clinician's observation of your child at play and a standardized autism rating scale.
Your clinician interprets these together and explains, in plain language, whether autism is indicated, not indicated, or whether more information is needed โ and what that means for your child in everyday life.
Your report includes:
A clear conclusion
Whether autism is indicated, not indicated, or more information is needed, explained in straightforward language.
Strengths and areas needing attention
A balanced profile across social, communication, sensory and behaviour areas.
Relevant history and context
Developmental history and caregiver concerns are considered alongside the assessment findings.
Practical recommendations
Clear, individualised next steps for home, school and, where appropriate, therapy or other professional support.
What this assessment doesn't cover. This assessment focuses on autism-related social communication, behaviour and developmental features. It is not a full cognitive, language or ADHD evaluation. If other concerns emerge, the psychologist may recommend an additional assessment rather than inferring those abilities from this one.
The exact report structure and content will vary depending on the assessment your child receives.
What makes a Brighters assessment different
- ๐ฑ
Strength-based and child-centred
We look at your child's strengths as well as the areas where they may need support โ not just a diagnosis or score.
- ๐ง
Clinician-led, not algorithm-led
Standardized assessment tools support the process, but an experienced psychologist interprets the complete picture and makes the recommendations.
- ๐ก
Clear recommendations you can use
We explain what the findings mean and provide practical next steps for home, school and professional support.
- ๐
Designed for access from home
Assessments are delivered online wherever clinically appropriate, so families can access experienced professionals without needing to travel.
- ๐งญ
We stay with you after the report
Your assessment becomes a baseline, and we recommend returning for a reassessment about once a year so you always know how your child is progressing โ not just where they started. Every report is saved to your child's Progress dashboard, building a complete picture over time.
